SHAH ALAM: Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda wanted to put the blame solely on C/Insp Azilah Hadri so that he could wash his hands of the case, the High Court here heard yesterday.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah, in submissions at the end of the prosecution’s case, said Abdul Razak claimed that he was innocent, had only sought C/Insp Azilah’s help but never wanted this (Altantuya Shaariibuu’s murder) to happen. “All these amount to creating or providing evidence that tend to favour himself,” he said.
As to whether Abdul Razak had a relationship with Altantuya and motive to murder her, Tun Abdul Majid said: “Razak did not deny they had a relationship.
“The fact that Razak had ended his relationship with the deceased and that he did not want to give (money) any more to put a stop to the blackmail from the Mongolian woman, constitute a motive to want her killed.”
C/Insp Azilah, 32, and Kpl Sirul Azhar Umar, 36, both members of the police’s Special Action Squad (UTK), are charged with murdering Altantuya, 28, at Mukim Bukit Raja, Selangor, between 10pm on Oct 19 and 1am the following day.
Abdul Razak, 47, a political analyst, is charged with abetting them.
Submissions before Judge Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yasin continues today.
