If you haven’t as yet seen the video of the violent end to the unplanned, impromptu vigil at the Dewan Sivik, PJ, wrought by the police last night, here it is .
Malaysiakini reports that Selangor CPO Khalid Abu Bakar denied that police moved in on the vigilers whilst they were in the midst of singing the Negaraku.
He suggested that the vigilers had made this up.
When told that there was video evidence to back what the vigilers had alleged, his response was simply “I am denying it.”
That’s not all.
Referring to the vigil at the Dewan Sivik, Khalid says the vigilers were first asked to disperse whereafter, some were arrested.
I was there.
There was no order to disperse and no reasonable time given to the vigilers to do so.
And the baton wielding and shielded FRU charged into the vigilers whilst they were still singing the Negaraku.
The video bears this out.
There’s more long-nosing.
According to the Malaysiakini report, Khalid said that the vigilers who have been holding candlelight vigils the last four Sundays opposite the Amcorp Mall prior to yesterday’s, have not heeded police demands to apply for a permit.
“We have given them enough warnings,” he said, and reiterated that the group had failed to heed demands to obtain a police permit for four weeks.
