Arumugam letak jawatan exco, kekal Adun

Main-main haaa...???

Karpal to Anwar: Step down as Pakatan head

    Dear Karpal,

You have been banging your head against the BN brick wall for nearly 40 years. I have long admired and loved you for your indomitable warrior spirit, which reveals you to be of authentic khalsa pedigree. With your brilliant grasp of the law you have stood out as one of the finest legal minds in the region. The few times we have met I noticed you almost glowed with the aura of a saint, and I saw you as a spiritual warrior who would fight to the death for what you believe to be right.

However, ever since the political tsunami of 8 March 2008, you have become a lot grouchier and much more pugnacious.

Initially, I figured it would take you a bit of time to adjust to the new political realities wherein the DAP, which you have loyally served for so many decades, is no longer confined to playing the perennial role of Loyal Opposition. Indeed, along with its partners in the Pakatan Rakyat, the DAP must now get used to being in charge - just as Lim Guan Eng has had to swiftly adapt to being the Chief Minister of Penang, not just somebody paid to give BN a hard time in parliament and maintain the illusion of democracy.

When you’re in charge, there is no longer any advantage in being perceived as “strident” or “quarrelsome.” Indeed, when one is in power, one must become more accepting and understanding of others, and speak in gentler - but more authoritative - tones.

In recent days we have all witnessed the magnificent spirit of enlightened and noble leadership that Perak MB Mohd Nizar Jamaluddin personifies. He has stood up firmly and with impressive dignity to being dismissed as MB by the Sultan of Perak - and he has done so without a trace of rancor or rudeness. We could point to this and call it the silver lining in an otherwise dark cloud: the constitutional crisis in Perak and the kurang ajar manner in which YB Nizar has been mistreated by the BN faction has brought forth shining qualities within this young leader we otherwise would never know existed. YB Nizar has conducted himself with such impeccable aplomb and courage, Malaysians are now saying he is PM material - and indeed I agree he is.

What’s remarkable is that YB Nizar’s appeal as a leader transcends all party lines and racial barriers. We see him as a good, intelligent, approachable, humble, inspiring man - not as the PAS Mentri Besar of Perak.

Well, it’s YB Nizar’s job on the line - and he has never once blamed Anwar Ibrahim for the current political imbroglio. Nor has he threatened to sue the Sultan for making an arguably unwise decision, possibly swayed by business considerations.

Now more than ever the rakyat would like to see a strong, united Pakatan Rakyat focused on replacing Umno/BN as the federal government. Not one where every other leader is a loose cannon that can scuttle the ship anytime for the most absurd reasons. True, the Pakatan Rakyat espouses the spirit and not merely the letter of democratic ideals - and therefore must allow for dissenting views on various issues.

Nevertheless, it is one thing to voice disagreement and quite another to attack your political allies and colleagues in such a truculent and aggressive manner as to cause internal injury. The last thing we want is to see the Pakatan Rakyat coalition disintegrate before it has even had a chance to govern the nation.

Dear Karpal, in my humble opinion, Anwar is a highly intelligent man, albeit openly ambitious (and that is hardly a crime). If there are painful lessons to be learnt from the Perak party-hopping debacle, I have no doubt Anwar will very quickly learn them. There is absolutely no call to publicly whack him on the head with your umbrella (even if Anwar’s detractors might view this as extremely comical and go to town with it).

Your demand for Anwar to step down as Pakatan leader at this juncture is unjustified and perhaps even suicidal. Without Anwar’s powers of persuasion and his moderating influence, fundamentalist voices (from both ends of the spectrum) will rise to the fore and ruin all our hopes for authentic change in Malaysia.

Dear Karpal, I value honesty and outspokenness above most other traits. I am not in politics because, like you, I’m inclined to have a short fuse - and when angry am capable of shooting my mouth off and hurting a lot of people’s feelings. But you, Karpal, are a veteran politician and really ought to know better, especially as you approach your 69th solar orbit. Clearly, the patriarchal control freak latent in your DNA is beginning to emerge and with increasing frequency. I have seen 90-year-old Sikh patriarchs scare the living daylights out of their burly 40-year-old grandsons. Please, dear friend, don’t give in to those destructive propensities. Good families have broken down and become dysfunctional because of uncontrollable irascibility on the part of long-bearded, stern-faced patriarchs with absolutely no sense of humor and who cannot tolerate new ways of doing things.

May I suggest that you take a break from the emotionally charged atmosphere in Perak? Take time out to recuperate from the psychic toxins of being immersed for so many decades in a BN-dominated parliament. Be a child again with your grandchildren, an affectionate father to your wonderful progeny, and a loving friend to the multitudes who adore and respect you as a living saint.

And I’m sure you have the goodness of heart and wisdom to apologize to Anwar for your outburst. Leave the fate of this nation in the collective hands of the rakyat - or of God, if you happen to be a believer. Come back and rejoin the fray when you’re well rested and together let us fulfil the aspirations of a beautiful young nation.

    Antares

Nizar risk his neck for perakean (malays, chinese, indian & other) at the sword of the King.

Karpal risk his neck for Nizar from PAS to remain as MB at the sword of King’s followers from BN.

Chinese community themselves try to dash in their part too by becoming ‘along’ themselves haunting the traitor H to return back whatever she owe perakean so that Nizar from PAS can get back to work.

..a unique scenerio..elements of racist here seem like going to the lowest level (i watch your back for you, you watch my back for me). now i see myself as perakean & we are getting united slowly & most important Naturally.

    ..a blessing in disguise..

Perfect and well said. I have nothing more to add. Without DSAI, there will no be Perak to talk about in the 1st place. Anyway, it was Najib who promised 50 million if some PR reps defect even before PR identified its MB for Perak. PR has been under attack from Day One and DSAI was forced to threaten with BN defections to thwart their evils plans.

Dear Karpal.we know how you feel and understand the outburst.we the raayats are very sore too,and a bit confused and at the end of the day must realised that bn is the one that strongly opposed the anti hopping law otherwise they be a dead duck.So sometimes we have to play with the game a little to make them feel threaten too without this law.maybe they would consider this law at last.we know we can’t beat them as they make the numbers but what else to do than to bring the fight to them sometimes, and hopefully take over the fed.govnt in 2013 ge and sincerely introduces the anti hopping law for the good of country and raayat then.
For now be patient, continuasly keep harping on introducing the anti hopping law campaign til the next ge,and quite sure even with this one campaign,we the majority of raayats will give PR a chance bcos now the whole raayat understand the good of the law.we the raayats know and realise only a change of govnt. can this law be introduced bcos bn won’t do it.We the raayats fully supports the anti hopping law.

dear antares, it’s a very enticing writing with very concise statements. I believed that this kind of writing is extremely required in order to let people start thinking, observing, analyzing with their own thoughts. Thus i would say, this writing is very enlightening amidst the hiccup in our politic scene. People prompt to make short sighted assumptions, showering irrelevant sentiments, merely to satisfy their own ignorance of the real situation. Therefore, it’s a laudable effort to share brilliant thoughts, yet in a very admirable way. Bravo!

Karpal should be respected as much as Anwar deserves. He has done so much for DAP and Malaysia. Anwar is the right hand and he may be the left; together we need them to mould and create a good model of Pakatan and Malaysia. Do not be too quick to jump on him when he hits out at the other hand. Malaysians will be happy to know that Anwar is meeting Karpal to solve this problem. It’s time the right gives a good massage to soothe the discomfort in the left hand.

Mr. Karpal - I am sure there are points in this piece of writing for you to derive lessons from.

Without DS Anwar Ibrahim - the opposition pack will collapse and BN/UMNO will have you to thank. That is what they are fighting for, i.e. to rid Anwar from this land or at least from the political scene of this country.

..or maybe you have a “strategy” that we don’t know….?

It is not Anwar fault. Karpal please don’t get upset. It is that Pakatan Rakyat being a clean party definitely have some rotten apple. Being a clean party,it is difficult to keep these bad apple. To the bad apple, losing their childhood friends are not important. Most imporantant is their pocket being fill with $$$. At least Pakatan Rakyat has gained a lot of silence supporters and will win big in the next election. Most important has to win big for Parliament seat in order to control the fund which belongs to the Rakyat.

We know other party is trying to buy our hearts now but we already lost trust and angry. They will spend million of monies for developement. But most of the project is tender at what market rates and by whom? Unlike Pakatan Rakayat, monies go to Rakyat, give back land belong to rakyat, rebate on water, free wireless broadband etc. Pakatan Rakyat offer open tender and choose lower rates.

The Rakyat also can know what is the meaning of Independence party. But the Rakyat did not vote for Independence party. The Rakyat vote for Pakatan Rakyat. Independence friendly to who is not important to the Rakyat. But 2 parties having the same amount of seat 28 is very obvious. Only those who dare to face the Rakyat prefer to have another election. Those who are coward will only use force.

I hope he understand that bringing BN down is more important than personal glory. If I have the chance to be in Anwar’s place, I would do the same. Hey, who doesnt want a friend? But nobody knows how to read people’s mind right? Even the prophet wouldn’t know everything?

Karpal, please be calm. Lets focus!! FOCUS!!!

Bapak Anwar, jangan patah semangat.

Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin is people representative endorsed by the 12th GE. He should not be lamented as treason. People know why and how the 3 ADUNs jump ship and caused the crisis. People also know why the Sultan of Perak had to agree with BN. If any treason, it is the 3 ADUNs & BN to the people. The people should also not forget on BOTA ADUN ….

The PERAK people still want Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin as their MB. That is why he has not stepped down knowing the implication. He has to put his stand or the people will not forgive him. Not only Perak people should be united behind him but also people of the Malaysia. To show support for him a web site should be created just like Obama’s election web-site. The web-site should also allow people to contribute money to him so that he can remains relevant.

Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin is our pahlawan. God blessed.

For the past 50 years, we have not seen light at the end of the tunnel until DS Anwar emerged in the opposition. Without him, we won’t have 5 state under PR which does not exist. I don’t think this present turn of event is within his control. Human nature is self-centered. There are not very many good leaders in this world that really care for the country. One that I know is Mahatma Ghandi of India. The other is Zhou Eng Lai of China. Another is Tunku Abdul Rahman.

Malayisa has been ruled by BN for 50 years and just look at the social relationship of the races, economy of the country, technological advancement of the industries, our natural resources, and last of all our human resources. Our currency is less than half of Singapore now, Thailand currency is trailing behind very fast, Vietnam is chasing behind, China is ahead of us, India is coming out of doldrum.

Do you think that Anwar should go? I believe history has taught DS Anwar a great lesson like Nelson Mendela. Who will question that Nelson Mendela is a useless leader? I personally for one do not question the integrity of DS Anwar now. He has 100% of my trust!

  5. Al Fatehah buat Allahyarham Roslan Shahrum, ahli parlimen Bukit Gantang.
