Kementerian Pelajaran Siasat Penggunaan Video Klip 'Sajak Kematian' Di Sekolah
Kementerian Pelajaran akan mengadakan siasatan berhubung penggunaan klip video 'Sajak Kematian' di sekolah-sekolah, seperti yang dilaporkan oleh media sebelum ini.
Menteri Pelajaran Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein berkata beliau sama sekali tidak bersetuju dengan kaedah penggunaan klip video 'Sajak Kematian' di sekolah memandangkan ia tidak sesuai dengan tahap umur pelajar yang masih terlalu muda.
"Saya sungguh tidak bersetuju kerana kita hendak mendidik mesti secara berhemah dan pendekatan yang menakut-nakutkan lebih-lebih lagi terhadap anak-anak yang usianya cukup muda, saya rasa ia tidak akan membawa manfaat," katanya kepada pemberita ketika diminta mengulas mengenai isu itu selepas merasmikan Program Pertukaran Pelajar ASEAN (ASEP) 2008 di Sekolah Sultan Alam Shah di sini hari ini.
Laporan media sebelum ini memaparkan penggunaan klip video 'Sajak Kematian' di sekolah, yang antara lain memaparkan babak seksaan kubur selepas jenazah dikebumikan.
Penggunaan klip video ini menimbulkan bantahan daripada sebilangan ibu bapa kerana dikhuatiri akan menjejaskan akidah apabila klip video itu turut memaparkan gambaran yang berlaku di alam ghaib.
Dalam perkembangan lain, Hishammuddin berkata kadar yuran pada penggal persekolahan tahun depan dijamin tidak akan menimbulkan sebarang masalah, sebagaimana yang berlaku pada penggal persekolahan lalu.
Sebuah jawatankuasa khas yang dipengerusikan oleh beliau sendiri akan meneliti semua perkara berkaitan penggal persekolahan baru tahun depan termasuk isu yuran, jadual waktu dan perkara berkaitan yang diumumkan kelak.
"Saya yakin tidak akan timbul masalah dan yuran tambahan, ia bukan suatu yang wajib sebaliknya ada kaitan dengan Persatuan Ibu Bapa dan Guru (PIBG).
"Sebelum ini yang timbul adalah berpunca daripada salah tanggapan dan kita sudah berbincang dan menyelesaikan masalah tersebut," katanya.

'Where's the Eurocopter report?' PAC chief flayed
The temperature in the Dewan Rakyat rose a couple of notches when DAP leader Lim Kit Siang trained his guns on Public Accounts Committee (PAC) chief Azmi Khalid.
Apart from calling for his resignation, Lim also challenged Azmi to explain the PAC's findings on the controversial Eurocopter deal outside the House.
Earlier, Lim had asked when the PAC would furnish its report on the RM1.6 billion deal to Parliament in order for the matter to be debated.
According to the Ipoh Timur MP, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced in his winding-up speech on Nov 4 that a report would be tabled immediately.
He then proceeded to flay the PAC chairperson over the matter.
"Azmi made a statement (to release the report). This is a big cronyism and corruption problem (which must be addressed) in order to save our economy and the PAC chairman cannot even answer this because he would run away.
"He should resign as PAC chairman. Where is the Eurocopter report? Irresponsible and unaccountable as chairman. You do not even deserve to be chairman," he thundered, paving the way for a shouting match between Barisan Nasional and opposition parliamentarians.
Azmi (BN-Padang Besar) retaliated and described Lim as "ignorant" in matters of economy management.
Deputy Speaker Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar was forced to intervene and decided to end the matter as it was nearing lunch break.
However, Lim refused to back down and challenged Azmi to meet him outside the House to explain the issue.
On Nov 3, Azmi revealed that PAC did not find any procedural abuse in the Eurocopter tender process.
However, the powerful committee was concerned that there was no physical examination on the 12 Eurocopter helicopters which the government wanted to purchase.
Report Being Prepared
Met by reporters later, Lim said Azmi should have not stood up to defend himself because the report had not been tabled.
He said the report should be tabled in the next few days as the "result was already announced by the Finance Ministry on Nov 4".
"Now it is already coming to a week. There should be a debate on the report once it is tabled and the PAC chairman should use his influence to ask for an agreement from the ministry to request a debate.
"And that is the time he can defend and stand up on his conduct and not stand up in this irregular and improper way. I hope he will speed up the report in the next few days," he added.
Lim also pointed out that every PAC member would have the right to have a say in the report as it should be signed by each member and not by the chairman alone.
"The chairman should not unilaterally and arbitrarily claim the PAC findings without the endorsement by the members," he said.
Azmi, who accepted the challenge to explain the matter outside the House, said: "I have instructed (the committee) to speed up the preparation of the report and it has been promised that it will be ready in the next few days."
The report, he added, would be prepared in verbatim format and a summary of the findings would also be included and tabled in Parliament.
"I am not here to debate with YB Ipoh Timur but whatever it is, we'll just wait for the report to be released. And YB could bring anything up regarding the issue after it is released, not before," he said with Lim standing beside him.

Perak Keluar Garis Panduan Untuk Kurangkan Perbelanjaan Awam Oleh Jabatan
IPOH, 11 Nov (Bernama) -- Kerajaan Perak mengeluarkan Pekeliling Kewangan Negeri iaitu garis panduan bagi perbelanjaan secara berhemah dan langkah mengurangkan perbelanjaan awam yang perlu dipatuhi oleh setiap jabatan berkenaan.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mohammad Nizar Jamaluddin berkata antara kandungan pekeliling itu ialah kawalan elaun lebih masa bagi kakitangan kerajaan negeri, penjimatan ulitili seperti arahan menutup lampu ketika rehat, waktu pemasangan pendingin hawa dan penggunaan bekalan pejabat seperti kertas dan pembelian surat khabar.
"Cadangan pengubah suaian pejabat atau penyewaan bangunan pejabat baru dan lawatan sambil belajar atau lawatan keluar negara yang berkaitan dengan pelaksanaan sesuatu kontrak dan projek perlu mendapat kelulusan pegawai kewangan negeri," katanya ketika menjawab soalan S.Kesavan (PKR-Hutan Melintang) pada sesi soal jawab di persidangan Dewan Undangan Negeri di sini hari ini.
Tanpa menyebut tarikh pekeliling itu dikeluarkan, beliau berharap ia dapat membantu jabatan melaksanakan langkah perbelanjaan berhemah dan berjimat cermat.
Jumlah penjimatan yang dapat dikurangkan adalah perbelanjaan sambutan kemerdekaan iaitu RM1.1 juta pada tahun ini berbanding perbelanjaan RM2.6 juta pada tahun lepas semasa Perak di bawah kerajaan Barisan Nasional, katanya.
Datuk Seri Tajol Rosli Ghazali (BN-Pengkalan Hulu) yang bangun untuk mencelah berkata perbelanjaan RM2.6 juta pada tahun 2007 itu adalah kerana terdapat sambutan kemerdekaan yang dibuat di peringkat daerah.
Sementara itu, ketika menjawab soalan Datuk Ramly Zahari (BN-Manong) mengenai kelulusan terhadap projek kerajaan pusat, Mohammad Nizar berkata kerajaan negeri memberi pertimbangan yang baik terhadap permohonan kerajaan pusat yang dibuat menerusi Jabatan Persekutuan melalui persuruhjaya Tanah Persekutuan khususnya dalam Rancangan Malaysia Kesembilan (RMK-9).
"Boleh dikatakan semua 13 permohonan yang dipohon oleh kementerian persekutuan mulai Mac hingga 13 Ogos lepas telah diluluskan kecuali satu di Hulu Perak...Saya tidak mahu huraikan 13 projek yang diluluskan itu tetapi semua yang diminta diluluskan (seperti) tapak sekolah, bomba, balai polis, institut Mardi dan sebagainya telah kita luluskan," katanya.
Ketika menjawab soalan Sum Cheok Leng (DAP-Bercham) beliau berkata jumlah peruntukan yang diperolehi daripada kerajaan pusat di bawah RMK-9 sehingga September lepas ialah RM1.96 bilion.
"Jumlah projek adalah 1,626 projek. Jumlah perbelanjaan dalam tempoh yang sama adalah sebanyak RM983.57 juta iaitu 50.15 peratus. Projek yang telah siap adalah sebanyak 286 projek atau 17.6 peratus," katanya.

Minister, police chief come under fire
Home Minister Syed Hamid Albar has been urged to apologise for the manner in which the police handled a candlelight vigil in Petaling Jaya on Sunday night.
In a press statement, the organiser of the vigil Coalition for Clean and Fair Elections (Bersih) also called on Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar to "take responsibility for his part in this fiasco to resign."
"We are deeply appalled by the unusual manner in which the police dispersed citizens in a peaceful gathering.
“Under 'more normal' circumstances, the police officer in charge would order the crowd to disperse within five minutes before taking any action," read the statement which was distributed during a press conference in Parliament today.
Speaking at the press conference, DAP MP Teresa Kok cited the case of a civilian who allegedly suffered injuries during the vigil held to commemorate the first anniversary of last November’s Bersih rally and to protest against the Internal Security Act.
"A 53-year-old woman named Dian Abdullah was attacked from behind by a few policemen, causing her to fall and injure the back of her head where she received stitches afterwards," claimed the parliamentarian, who also showed a photograph of the victim.
Vigil Will Continue
Another opposition MP, Dzulkefly Ahmad (PAS-Kuala Selangor) said the 'police violence' was unexpected and at the same time urged the home minister to resign.
"If they dispersed (the people) in such a violent act just to create fear among the public, it will never break our spirit to fight against this," he said.
The politicians also lashed out at the police chief for allowing 'violence' to be perpetrated against DAP leaders Tony Pua and Lau Weng San.
Blogger Haris Ibrahim, who was also present at the press conference, said the candlelight vigil has been taking place every Sunday for the past four weeks.
He vowed that it will continue until all ISA detainees are released and the draconian law is repealed.
"The Selangor state government should also take part in the gathering and they should protect those people who back their policy," he said.
'Police Chief Lied'
At a separate press conference held in the Parliament lobby this morning, DAP leader Lim Kit Siang took a swipe at the police chief for "lying to the public despite video evidence."
Yesterday, Khalid denied that the police dispersed the crowd when they were singing the national anthem even though a video recording showed otherwise.
"He is an outright liar, he was caught red-handed for lying because the police did disperse the crowd when they sang the national anthem and also without warnings," said Lim.
The veteran politician also said that Khalid should be held responsible for "violating the fundamental freedom of speech" in the country.
"For that, I am urging him to apologise to the public immediately for the lies," said Lim.
A total of 23 people were arrested during the vigil and 22 of them were freed the next morning. Another detainee is being held for further investigations into other cases.

Speaking at the press conference, DAP MP Teresa Kok cited the case of a civilian who allegedly suffered injuries during the vigil held to commemorate the first anniversary of last November’s Bersih rally and to protest against the Internal Security Act."A 53-year-old woman named Dian Abdullah was attacked from behind by a few policemen, causing her to fall and injure the back of her head where she received stitches afterwards," claimed the parliamentarian, who also showed a photograph of the victim.
Vigil Will Continue
Another opposition MP, Dzulkefly Ahmad (PAS-Kuala Selangor) said the 'police violence' was unexpected and at the same time urged the home minister to resign.
"If they dispersed (the people) in such a violent act just to create fear among the public, it will never break our spirit to fight against this," he said.
The politicians also lashed out at the police chief for allowing 'violence' to be perpetrated against DAP leaders Tony Pua and Lau Weng San.Blogger Haris Ibrahim, who was also present at the press conference, said the candlelight vigil has been taking place every Sunday for the past four weeks.
He vowed that it will continue until all ISA detainees are released and the draconian law is repealed.
"The Selangor state government should also take part in the gathering and they should protect those people who back their policy," he said.
'Police Chief Lied'
At a separate press conference held in the Parliament lobby this morning, DAP leader Lim Kit Siang took a swipe at the police chief for "lying to the public despite video evidence."
Yesterday, Khalid denied that the police dispersed the crowd when they were singing the national anthem even though a video recording showed otherwise."He is an outright liar, he was caught red-handed for lying because the police did disperse the crowd when they sang the national anthem and also without warnings," said Lim.
The veteran politician also said that Khalid should be held responsible for "violating the fundamental freedom of speech" in the country.
"For that, I am urging him to apologise to the public immediately for the lies," said Lim.
A total of 23 people were arrested during the vigil and 22 of them were freed the next morning. Another detainee is being held for further investigations into other cases.
Al Fatihah: Bekas ADUN Bandar Baharu meninggal dunia pagi tadi
Bekas Ahli Dewan Undangan Negeri (Adun) Bandar Baharu, Datuk Abdul Majid Itam meninggal dunia pagi ini di Hospital Kulim, dekat sini, akibat angin ahmar.
Abdul Majid, 68, meninggal dunia kira-kira jam 10 pagi.
Menurut anak keduanya, Khairul Salleh, 40, bapanya dimasukkan ke hospital itu malam Ahad lalu setelah mengadu sesak nafas dan menurutnya bapanya menghidap angin ahmar sejak 10 tahun lalu.
Allahyarham meninggalkan dua isteri iaitu Rohani Shuib, 64, dan Siti Hayati Salleh, 46, dan 15 orang anak iaitu 13 lelaki dan dua perempuan berumur antara 42 hingga 10 tahun.
Allahyarham menjadi Adun selama dua penggal dari 1982 sehingga 1990.
Jenazah Allahyarham akan dikebumikan di Tanah Perkuburan Islam Masjid Al-Irsyad, Serdang, di sini petang ini.

Ustaz Hashim angkat sumpah ADUN Sanglang hari ini
Pesuruhjaya Pas Perlis, Hashim Jasin hari ini mengangkat sumpah sebagai anggota dewan undangan negeri kawasan Sanglang.
Majlis angkat sumpah itu berlangsung di hadapan Speaker Dewan Undangan Negeri Perlis, Datuk Yazid Mat semasa sesi persidangan dewan undangan negeri di sini.
Pada pilihan raya umum 8 Mac lalu Hashim diisytihar tewas kepada calon Barisan Nasional (BN) Abdullah Hassan namun pada 16 September lalu Mahkamah Persekutuan mengisytiharkan bahawa kerusi itu dimenangi beliau.
Pada 18 Jun, Mahkamah Tinggi Kangar mengisytiharkan kerusi DUN kawasan Sanglang yang dimenangi oleh Abdullah sebagai kosong berikutan petisyen yang dikemukakan oleh Hashim pada 24 April lalu.
Sementara itu, anggota dewan undangan negeri kawasan Chuping, Mansor Jusoh hari ini dilantik sebagai Timbalan Speaker Dewan Undangan Negeri Perlis berkuatkuasa hari ini.
Nama Mansor dicadangkan oleh Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Dr Md Isa Sabu dan disokong oleh anggota dewan undangan negeri kawasan Pauh, Datuk Seri Diraja Syed Razlan Jamalullail.
Oleh kerana tiada nama lain yang dicadangkan, Yazid mengisytiharkan Mansor sebagai timbalan speaker.
