Harga Minyak:Kemenangan Di Pihak Rakyat

Arif nafi, PKR mahu SPR batal kelayakan calon BN tanding
Saya sendiri pun tiada pekerja jentera. Jentera pilihan raya pula diuruskan oleh Umno Bahagian (Permatang Pauh).
"Dana saya terhad, macam mana saya hendak bayar jika saya tiada pekerja jentera," kata beliau.
"Melainkan Arif Shah menafikan laporan akhbar.
Petrol and diesel price to drop tomorrow
PUTRAJAYA, Aug 22 - The petrol and diesel price will drop by between eight sen and 22 sen a litre tomorrow.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi announced today that the Cabinet had decided that the price of RON97 petrol be reduced by 15 sen to RM2.55 a litre from RM2.70, while RON92 would cost 22 sen less at RM2.40 a litre from RM2.62 a litre.
The retail price of diesel would drop by eight sen to RM2.50 a litre, he said in a statement.
The petrol price was determined by taking into account the actual price from Aug 1 to 21 and the 30 sen per litre subsidy borne by the government while the subsidy for diesel, based on the new price, was 50 sen a litre.
"The cabinet today decided to bring forward the enforcement date for adjustment of the new petrol price," he said.
Abdullah said the decision was made after taking into account the fall in the world fuel price in recent weeks and the steep rise in the inflation rate last month.
The Consumer Price Index (CPI) for last month, as announced today, rose by 8.5 per cent compared with July last year.
"It is the government's hope that the reduction in the petrol and diesel price will help ease the burden of consumers and reduce the inflationary pressure, especially on the low- and middle-income earners. The decision is also based on the current economic development," the prime minister said.
On Aug 1, the government announced that the petrol retail price till the end of the year would be adjusted on the first of every month, with the subsidy maintained at 30 sent per litre.
However, the prime minister said the adjustment formula would only be implemented if the retail price of petrol was less than RM2.70 per litre. otherwise the price would be capped at that.
On June 5, the government raised the petrol price by 78 sen or 41 per cent from RM1.92 to RM2.70 a litre and diesel by RM1 or 63 per cent from RM1.58 to RM2.58 a litre.
At that time the world oil price was US$125 a barrel and it continued to rise to hover at US$140 a barrel at one time but has been on a downward trend since early this month.
The price was around US$115 a barrel last week and US$121 a barrel yesterday.

Nurul Izzah: It's not about my father, it's about the future of Malaysia
PENANTI, Aug 22 - The dark grey clouds are rolling in fast from the Chinese cemetery across the road when Nurul Izzah Anwar steps into the triple-storeyed Yayasan Aman, PKR's main action station in this neck of the woods.
The Lembah Pantai parliamentarian had arrived in town over a week ago to campaign alongside her father, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. But neither the punishing schedule nor negative news bombarding the party had worn her down.
She looks fresh in a pale yellow floral baju kurung. And then she smiles the million watt-smile so similar to her father's, whose face was plastered on a larger-than-life banner right behind her.
Nurul Izzah is no virgin campaigner. Beneath her sweet exterior is a veteran who has earned her stripes during the controversial Ijok by-election in April last year when tensions ran high between the Barisan Nasional and the opposition.
Then heavily pregnant, she continued to walk from house to house, campaigning for the ideals of the party.
"As an MP, there are more challenges this time around. It's more tiring than before," said Izzah, as she is fondly called, before describing the exhausting number of programmes she had to ensure were up and running in her constituency.
To be her father's pillar of strength in this mother-of-all by-elections, she has had to sacrifice many of her own interests, such as a forum discussing the University and University Colleges Act 1971 (Auku) organised by the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur last Saturday. Tony Pua, the DAP member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya Utara, went in her stead in the end.
Zeroing in on the current debate for University Technology Mara to set a quota to include non-Muslim enrolment, she commented that the issue had got out of hand to the extent that the vice-chancellor wanted to charge Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim for mooting the idea.
"I find it preposterous at the very least," cried Izzah.
As preposterous as the idea that PKR's fight is simply about putting Anwar on the seat of power in Putrajaya?
"This campaign is not just about Anwar Ibrahim per se," states Izzah, Anwar's eldest child.
"My father is an agent of change. That's one of the reasons why I undertook it myself. The campaign is not just specifically on one individual but for the larger mission of reform and to ensure that PKR continues," she adds.
"We can't do it for one man, but for the ideals, the party and the future of Malaysia. I really believe we can change things if we participate."
Izzah's face is earnest; her voice rings clear as crystal.
"Look at the make-up of our supporters. Now we've got a coalescence of races. It's not perfect," she notes, "But it's encouraging. I hate it when people use racial polemics. We should rise above that."
Because of her special position as a parliamentarian and her relation to Anwar, she sees herself as playing an important role, not only to highlight the party's policies, but to be the human connector between the icon and the grassroots.
"I came to Permatang Pauh in 1995, when I was 15," she recounts. She remembers being politically awakened then, observing Anwar's dealings with the grassroots.
"He was very in touch with the people here," she says. Like Anwar, she is very expressive with her hands, and she starts fanning herself in an effort to calm down enough to voice the turbulent emotions visible in the flickering of her eyes.
"It's sad, it's heart-warming, it's inspirational," she says, after a moment.
"I think he's gone through a lot and I hope the people here can see that. That's my role, to lead the support...in the face of the sodomy allegations."
But, she stresses, she is over the nightmare of 1998. Sodomy 1 is no longer a bogeyman for her, or her sisters and brother.
"We know our father. We believe in him and his innocence. There's no question of it haunting us that way," says Izzah.
"But justice must be served. At the end of day, how much more does the BN want to villify him? There are so many other things at stake!"
Like the rest of her family, even her quiet and unassuming mother, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the fighting force is strong in Izzah.
"We're going to fight them. We want his name to be cleaned. He's spent six years in prison! This feeling is anger, not that we have doubts of his innocence."
There are times, of course, says Izzah, when she feels like leaving all the politics behind.
"Sometimes, it's crossed my mind, to leave everything behind to lead a serene, peaceful life," she admits. Narrating the trip she and the family made to the US last year, before the March 8 general elections, before they were certain they would win it, Izzah tells how she was sorely tempted to just stay there. But her father was there to remind her of her duty as a Malaysian.
"He said, 'You have to come back!' ...You have to appreciate the fact that people have accepted you into a position of power. We need to work on democracy. We must participate in efforts to improve governance and judiciary for the stakeholders."
And that is why she is standing her ground firmly even as her family, her party, and the Pakatan Rakyat coalition continue to face negative press that may have damaged the campaigning efforts as far away as Permatang Pauh.
On the allegations of hooliganims by PKR members and supporters at several events on the ground, including on nomination day, when a scuffle ended with two press photographers being injured, Izzah says, "It really perturbed me. People do not appreciate the lengths we go to trying to be objective and professional."
Her comments run on pretty similar lines as expressed by her political compatriots.
"My father was very angry. During the briefings before ceramahs with supporters, we always emphasise we don't condone violence, and to help the journalists who are only carrying out their job, even if we don't agree with their reports.
"But having said that, we did an internal investigation. We found the perpetrators were not members," Izzah explains of the follow-up after the Guang Ming Daily incident, in which a female photographer lodged a police report claiming she had been assaulted by several persons at an Anwar ceramah. Others alleged the hooligans were PKR supporters.
"Sometimes, people are so quick to jump to conclusions."
What if the perpetrator was proven to be a member or supporter to have acted violently, carried away by emotion in the heat of the moment?
"We will not tolerate such behaviour. Certainly, actions will be taken. No question about that. But this cannot be used as political tool to blemish against our party," Izzah emphasises, exhibiting a maturity that belies her 27 years.
Asked to comment on the perceived dissension within Pakatan Rakyat, she notes that their alliance is different from the BN's.
"It's better to have issues talked about openly. At least it's transparent, rather than putting up a brave front when the problem is not solved."
Referring to Zulkifli Nordin, the PKR MP and Chong Eng, the DAP MP, who recently had a heated tiff inside the Dewan Rakyat over a Bar Council forum on conversion to Islam, Izzah noted, "Even Zulkifli and Chong Eng, they could talk to each other after that. Of course, for me, I prefer if they had not said things in Parliament."
However, she says she has not seen any "adverse effects" from the scandals, or attempts at scandal, aimed at discrediting her father and PKR's reputation on the ground.
"We have a close relationship with the party machinery in Permatang Pauh and locals get to know our campaigning machinery quite well," says Izzah.
"Instead, people are questioning the timing of the PKR arrests," referring to the recent arrest of PKR members allegedly implicated in the assault against the media, "It was too blatant."

Ariff Kantoi......
Beliau menjelaskan demikian selepas timbul persoalan mengenai kelayakan akademiknya.

Pulis Geledah Rumah Petra RPK..!
The police confiscated a notebook computer, a scanner and some documents and left about two hours later. Raja Petra is to report to Bukit Aman for his statement to be recorded after the Permatang Pauh by-election.
Siapa Punya Angkara?
The Malaysian Insider understands that the document has been circulating for at least two days and two versions exist, one with DAP supremo Lim Kit Siang and another with Pas president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang as one of three deputy prime ministers. Another deputy prime minister is Sabah Progressive Party president Datuk Yong Teck Lee who has expressed no confidence in Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
Anwar, the de facto Pakatan Rakyat chief who is vying for a return to Parliament via the Permatang Pauh by-election next week, called the single-leaf A4-sized sheet an attempt by the BN to confuse the voters in the constituency in the current hustings.
Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz and Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek, ministers in the Prime Minister’s Department and of Information respectively, also denied any involvement. Nazri called the the supposed lineup as "Cabinet BABI — Barisan Anwar bin Ibrahim”.
PKR vice-president R. Sivarasa, in affirming Anwar’s denial of involvement, confirmed that the document had received that moniker.
Pas Youth chief Salahuddin Ayub said that it was the work of “certain parties” who were worried about Anwar’s impending victory and were trying to raise doubts in the minds of voters. He called on the public to approach the various tactics and strategies being employed with maturity.
DAP MPs M. Kulasegaran and Chong Eng called it “nonsense” and “ridiculous” respectively, with the latter saying that it might be the work of BN supporters. Pas Kuala Krai MP Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli said that the document was definitely false as “my face is not in it”.
Anwar has said that some 40 MPs are ready to cross over from the BN by Sept 16 to help him topple the BN and form a federal government. His Pakatan Rakyat now has 81 MPs and controls five states after a historic triumph in the March 8 general election. The BN, which was the expanded successor of the original three-party alliance that got Malaysia's independence in 1957, has 14 parties and 140 lawmakers in the 222-seat Parliament.
One MP, Pasir Mas’s Datuk Ibrahim Ali, has declared himself an Independent despite contesting on a Pas ticket.
Anwar is expected to easily beat the BN’s Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah and Pas splinter party Akim president Hanafi Mamat in the Permatang Pauh by-election on Aug 26.

Anwar must grab Malay vote
PERMATANG PAUH, Aug 22 — The Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim by-election could be decided by one main factor: how far the majority Malay voters are influenced by the sodomy accusation against him. Although the opposition chief is widely expected to win, he needs to carry a huge Malay vote to show he has moral standing in his own community.
This is because the Barisan Nasional campaign has zoomed in on one issue only — the sodomy allegation by his former aide Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
At a BN operations centre, a big screen facing the main road has continuously shown a video of Saiful swearing on the Quran in a mosque that Anwar had sexually assaulted him in June.
Its none-too-subtle message to Malay voters: why is Anwar not taking the oath too?
Several Malays told The Straits Times that the sodomy issue has become a factor as it has been played up by the mainstream media.
“I am not sure if this will affect him, but the issue is the first thing you see on TV daily,” said housewife Maznah Ramli, 48, from Kampung Sama Gagah.
Abu Shukor Abdullah, 41, a clerk from the same village, agreed. He said: “People who are 45 years old and above just watch TV and don’t get other views. The younger generation gets alternative news from the Internet.”
He added: “If Anwar swears by the Quran tomorrow, he will get 100 per cent Malay support.”
The former aide had accused the opposition leader of sodomising him on June 28, and on Wednesday piled pressure on Anwar when he made a report about the alleged sexual assault at the Federal Territory Islamic Department.
BN leaders who campaign in Permatang Pauh have mentioned the sodomy allegations repeatedly, in the hope of swaying Malay voters.
Last weekend, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who is leading the BN election campaign, told voters: “Your duty is to elect someone to represent and work for you, not to save Anwar.”
The DPM also addressed accusations levelled at BN for conspiring to bring him down, saying: “He chose Saiful, a person whom some would call jambu (beautiful). We did not interview or hire Saiful, so where is the conspiracy?”
Parti Keadilan Rakyat campaign workers said that while they have sewn up most of the Chinese and Indian vote, they are worried that older-generation Malays might swing away from Anwar.
Malays form 69.4 per cent of Permatang Pauh’s 59,000 voters, so a major swing would hit Anwar hard. The previous MP for the constituency, his wife Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, polled a majority of 13,398 votes.
One day after Saiful made his oath, PKR quietly carried out a flash survey of 277 Malays to gauge their response. Younger voters remained unaffected, but 45 per cent of those 60 years old and above said Anwar must also take the oath.
“We feel this could be a problem,” said PKR strategist Saifuddin Nasution.
Anwar’s party has since printed leaflets to explain Islamic law on oath-taking, and speak about the issue in door-to-door campaigns and in mosques.
The opposition leader himself did not dodge the issue in his campaign stops.
Addressing several hundred Malays at Kampung Sama Gagah on Wednesday evening, he said he continued to be maligned over the sodomy issue.

Anwar leads despite BN strategy switch
AUG 22 — Focus on Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah’s pull with the local population, and stay miles away from the sodomy charge against Opposition icon Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
This was the plan drawn up by Barisan Nasional and government strategists for the Permatang Pauh by-election.
So when BN Youth had a briefing in the operations centre on the eve of nomination day, Youth wing members were told explicitly not to touch the topic in house-to-house visits or in stump speeches.
They were given basic information to counter the allegation that Anwar was stripped naked while in police custody and made to sleep on a cement floor.
But those morsels of information were only to be used in response to questions from the ground. The rationale was clear: surveys commissioned by the government showed that six out of 10 Malaysians had reservations about the sodomy charge levelled against Anwar by his former aide Saiful Bukhari Azlan.
Also, intelligence reports suggested that the largely conservative Malay community was uncomfortable with detailed discussions about the sexual activities of one of its favourite sons.
And with Malays forming nearly 70 per cent of Permatang Pauh’s electorate, it seemed a prudent move to focus on the strength of BN’s candidate rather than the divisive sodomy allegation.
That plan was tossed out just after Saiful swore on the Quran at the Federal Territory mosque on Aug 15 that he had been sodomised by Anwar. Almost overnight, screens showing the 23-year-old taking the oath sprung up around the constituency, like mushrooms after a downpour.
Almost overnight, the focus of the campaign switched to Saiful and his allegation against Anwar.
Like much of BN’s planning and strategy since March 8, there is an element of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing. Umno officials are still uncertain who ordered the screens to be put up. They are also wondering who decided to change the focus of the by-election campaign.
A government official told The Malaysian Insider: “Some party officials think that Saiful’s oath could have a bearing on how some older Malays vote. So the focus is now a bit more on Saiful.”
Khairy Jamaluddin, the deputy Umno Youth chief, zoomed in on Saiful in a speech on Wednesday night. He noted that Saiful had been described as a coffee boy and a volunteer by PKR politicians. He was curious why Anwar would take a coffee boy on a trip overseas.
Khairy also said that Saiful had put himself and his family in harm’s way by swearing on the Quran.
“The burden from Saiful’s oath will not only be carried by him but also by his entire generation,” he added.
Other BN politicians have also been making the sodomy charge the focus of their speeches.
But privately, they concede that this strategy is doing little damage to Anwar.
The latest ground reports show that he is far ahead of Arif Shah and will win the Permatang Pauh constituency handsomely, possibly by more than 15,000 votes.

Tok Guru Nik Aziz Berihat Di Hospital

Majikan Harus Benarkan Pekerja Mengundi Pada P/raya Kecil Permatang Pauh
Pilihan raya Permatang Pauh menyaksikan pertandingan tiga penjuru melibatkan calon Barisan Nasional (BN) Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah, Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim dan calon Angkatan Keadilan Insan Malaysia (Akim) Hanafi Mamat.

Pendedahan Konspirasi BPR-BN Perak
Macam mana tangkap dulu, kemudian ditahan reman, baru lantik Pegawai Penyiasat? Bukankah siasat dulu baru tangkap?

Rege Syiling Minyak Kekal Sampai Akhir Tahun?
KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 21 - The ceiling price of petrol will remain at RM2.70 a litre until year-end, Domestic Trade and Consulmer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad said today.
He said the ceiling price would be reviewed after Dec 31 depending on the current global fuel price at year-end.
"If the fuel price spirals (this year), the people need not worry about bearing the high cost as the government will absorb the additional cost.
"I cannot say now as our fuel price depends on the price of a barrel of oil in the world market which constantly fluctuates," he told a media conference.
Shahrir however did not discount the prospect of the oil price dwindling to below RM2 before Dec 31 given the current uncertainties in the global oil price.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said yesterday the government will announce the new fuel prices on Aug 31 which will take effect on Sept 1.
The new price would be based on the average fuel prices throughout the month of August and after deducting the 30 sen subsidy for a litre.
On the possibility of a fare hike for public transport vehicles and an increase in the cost of transporting goods, Shahrir said it would not happen until year-end though there were calls from bus and lorry operators.
He said the government had other mechanism to help public transport operators who had to tide over with higher diesel prices.
"We are aware when diesel price increases, it will take a toll on public transport and lorry operators. Nevertheless, they cannot raise fares to their whims," he said.
Shahrir also said the government would re-visit in March next year the cash rebate paid to car and motorcycle owners.
He said the form of rebate would be re-determined including the maximum amount that can be claimed by car and motorcycle owners.
"What's happening now is that individuals having five vehicles including those using 2000cc cars are given rebate, it's not fair.
"We give rebate to lighten vehicle owners' burden but if they have more vehicles than they should, there is no need to give rebate anymore," he added.
Earlier, Shahrir launched two books on two Malaysian prime ministers entitled "Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi - A New Breeze In Malaysia's Politics" and "Tun Abdul Razak - A Phenomenon In Malaysian Politics" authored by Dr Paridah Abdul Samad.

SEBERANG JAYA, Aug 21 — Barisan Nasional's Datuk Arif Shah Omar Shah is attempting the unthinkable - he wants Permatang Pasir's Pas assemblyman Hamdan Abdul Rahman to endorse his campaign.
"My people are trying to arrange a meeting with him. I am going to tell him, if I win the Parliament seat, I can help develop his constituency, so both of us can share the credit," he said when met here today.
The BN candidate for the Permatang Pauh by-election is hoping that Pas will abandon its ally Parti Keadilan Rakyat, enabling a fighting chance for him against PKR de facto leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Hamdan however is not interested. "His offer is as a sign of desperation. Maybe he realises that BN is going to lose the election.
The three-term Pas assemblyman politely said that was inappropriate to negotiate with Arif Shah during the campaign period.
"We are at war, how can we negotiate with the enemy. Pas cannot afford to destroy Pakatan Rakyat, I will always defend the coalition.
"I was an opposition assemblyman for two terms. Why would I need his help now to bring development to my constituency? Pas machinery is working as usual and I personally attend 10 to 12 programmes a day for the campaign," Hamdan added.
A check at the Pas operation centre in Permatang Pasir showed that the Islamist party was still in high spirits to ensure Anwar's return to Parliament as party workers crowded after a day of campaigning. Several Pas female members were at the centre after returning from canvassing for votes.
"We visited about 200 homes this morning, and we are sure to get 80 percent of the votes in those areas," one of them told The Malaysian Insider.
PKR national strategy director Saifuddin Nasution said Arif Shah was being over ambitious.
"I would like to thank him for his good intention to help develop Permatang Pasir. But don't forget the mega projects in Penang such as the monorail was scrapped by the federal government and there's nothing for someone like Arif Shah can do," he said.
Anwar's campaign has intensified with ceramahs, walkabouts and house to house visit while BN is focusing more visiting voters in their houses.
